Building Baskets, Building Bridges
A Muslim Welfare Canada initiative, Project Ramadan’s mission is simple: we fundraise, assemble, and distribute baskets containing staple food items.
Who We Are
Run entirely by volunteers, Project Ramadan is an initiative dedicated to providing support to local families in need through fundraising and assembling food baskets. Our food baskets containing staple food items help the local community create healthy, balanced meals during the blessed month of Ramadan.
Through key partnerships with organizations such as food banks, women’s shelters and indigenous communities, we distribute baskets to families regardless of their race, religion or nationality. Enthusiastic volunteers come from across the Greater Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa areas to band together and make this initiative possible. With the support of our great sponsors, including Islamic Relief Canada, Project Ramadan has worked to help many Food Banks in the MWC network, and partner with many beneficiaries across Ontario.
Our Impact
Since 2009, we have proudly raised over two million dollars and distributed over 36,000 food baskets in joint support with the MWC food bank network.
In our 2022 campaign alone:
- We built and distributed over 6,000 baskets to 6,000 families
- Raised $507,104
- In 2022, we worked with 500+ community volunteers to make the campaign a great success!
Project Ramadan is a 100% volunteer-run. We keep overhead costs low to take your donations even further.
How You Can Help:
- Sponsor a basket: Your generous donation of $70 will provide a family of four with staple food items for a month.
- Donate food items and supplies: Muslim Welfare Canada and Project Ramadan are always looking to expand our relationship with suppliers in order to ensure that community members are receiving the highest quality items.
- Volunteer with us!
