Message From The President

First and most importantly, we would like to express our profound gratitude to God for allowing us to continue our mission of serving humanity as a means of serving Him for the last 26 years.

As you may have noticed, this year brought about a major rebrand at MWC. Our continuous growth and expansion of programs to help vulnerable families and children across Canada (and the world), deemed it necessary to deliver a new look which was reflective of our efforts to assist those in need, irrespective of religion, nationality, caste, or creed.

Muslim Welfare Centre of Toronto is now evolving into Muslim Welfare Canada, indicative of our focus on the national front.

The rebrand also brings about some changes to how our programs were previously organized. To better align our many programs and initiatives that you have come to know and love for the past 26 years, we are now categorized into several streams in order to highlight the overarching objective of each.

This year, MWC launched MWC Food, an all encompassing food fund comprising of our various programs which address food and nutrition. By the grace of God, we have continued to extend our reach while consolidating our existing services. In 2018, we established our second Arctic Food Bank in Iqaluit, Nunavut – as you all know, although food insecurity is pervasive across Canada, it predominantly affects those living in our northern territories. We have also continued to see growth in support for our other MWC Food programs, including Project Ramadan, Regent Park Meals and Meals on Wheels for seniors.

Next, we have MWC Wellness, where we believe that everyone should have the right to adequate healthcare, and we focus on providing access to free medical services for those who are uninsured. Our free medical clinics, located in Scarborough and Mississauga, continue to serve thousands of needy patients.

We understand that our children are our future, and that’s where MWC Children comes in. By providing children with the basic necessities, including food and shelter, we aim to do our part in supporting them so that they reach their full potential. Our programs also extend beyond Canada; we also support less fortunate students in Pakistan and Guyana.

The MWC Homes Fund allows us to maintain the quality, level of support, and access to resources made available to residents, providing a crucial lifeline to women, children and families in need. Finally, MWC Relief is at the forefront of providing relief when disaster strikes, again extending beyond the border. We have engaged in aid and disaster relief funding for Bangladesh, Philippines, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, regions of the Carribbean, Pakistan, Syria and Myanmar.

None of this could be possible without the grace of God, and the support of our donors, our volunteers and our community programs. We offer our most sincere thanks to you – as we continue to serve our mission: Service to humanity is service to Allah (God).

As always, we pray that Allah continue to bless all of our donors, volunteers, supporters, wellwishers and our hardworking staff with the best of both worlds.
