*COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT*

We are still operating our lunch service at Malvern Eats, however, we are now only serving take-out, all while taking the necessary precautionary measures.
The safety and health of our volunteers, staff, and beneficiaries are of utmost importance to us.

Malvern Eats

Serving up Smiles

Food has the power to build vibrant communities by helping bridge social gaps and reduce marginalization or stigma in diverse areas, such as Malvern in Scarborough.  Over the last several years there has been a rise in the number of seniors and single parents accessing the Malvern Healthy Community Cupboard food bank. Often poverty, poor health, employment & housing security, and access to services are major barriers in the health and well-being of low-income residents in Malvern.

Malvern Eats, a grassroots multi-agency collaboration, provides residents with a hot, healthy meal served in a restaurant-style lunch setting. Every Wednesday, dedicated staff and community volunteers serve delicious meals with warmth and compassion to over 150 guests and give hope to our neighbours in need. Guests share a sumptuous meal, socialize, and learn about various programs, services and resources available in the community.

Launched on March 3rd, 2016 with Muslim Welfare Canada as lead agency, and the support of Taibu Community Health Centre, 1 LoveMalvern, 42 Division Toronto Police Service, Malvern Food Bank/Seventh Day Adventist, and Malvern Presbyterian Church, this new program has served over 34,000 meals with the help of 250+ volunteers from all walks of life with a mission – Service with Smiles

Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities abound, so please consider giving us your time. Sponsor one meal, a handful, or the entire Wednesday program, starting at just $6 per meal. To learn more, send us an email: malverneats@mwcanada.org
